Our history

1983 

Melvita is created by Bernard Chevilliat, a beekeeper and biologist.

(Based on the Latin words ‘Mel’ for honey, and ‘Vita’ for life.)


1990 

Melvita draws up its "Charte Nature" guidelines. Launch of the first skincare range with honey: Apicosma.

2000 

The first Melvita store opens in France


2002 

Melvita obtains the ECOCERT* ecological and organic certification

2009 

Melvita opens its first store abroad. Since then, Melvita has opened over 50 stores throughout the world.


2012 

Our eco-factory obtained ISO 14001 certification in 2013.

This international standard sets specific requirements aimed at controlling the environmental impacts of companies' activities. 


2015 

Melvita is the no. 1 organic beauty brand in France in terms of reputation*. Our customers recognize both our expertise and our commitment to producing high-quality organic products.

Today, Melvita offers over 180 organic beauty products and 10 patents have been applied for in France

We develop our formulas from our organic plant oils, floral waters and honeys. Every day, we strive to further improve them, to create the organic products of tomorrow.
